One in every ten inhabitants of Belgium is a foreign national. Belgium was one of the founder members of the European Union (EU). Belgium hosts the headquarters of the EU and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

Flanders, at the heart of Europe

Bordered by the North Sea in the west, Flanders is the northern part of Belgium, nestled between the Netherlands and France. Some of Europe’s leading cities – London, Paris, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Cologne, Bonn and Luxembourg – are all situated within a radius of 300 km of Brussels, the capital of Flanders.
