Hogere Zeevaartschool , Noordkasteel-Oost 6 2030 Antwerpen
The Hogere Zeevaartschool Antwerpen (HZS)/Antwerp Maritime Academy (AMA) offers innovative higher education.
At the academy students get the chance to acquire scientific knowledge and skills that allow them to work self-consciously in a dynamic society.
The AMA pays special attention to the reception and guidance of first year students, migrant students, socio-economical limited students and students from developing countries. The courses are accessible for students of all generations.
The Antwerp Maritime Academy wants all students to become critical and independent thinking people who are armed to find their own way in society.
Therefore educational innovation and continious training of the academic staff are priorities.
To give its students an open and global vision, the AMA wants to participate as much as possible in international exchange and cooperation programmes.
Meanwhile, our academy wants to create an internal culture that is open to renewal, which encourages teamwork and pays attention to the development of its employees.
The AMA maintains, in collaboration with its alumni and several professional societies, a direct contact with the field through training initiatives.
In this way, the AMA is permanently anchored in the marine and maritime world, both within the region as on national and international level.
A merchant marine officer should be able to operate in ever changing conditions. Therefore our courses focus on a multidisciplinary approach and international orientation.
By taking STCW'95 as minimum standard, the courses at the AMA fulfill the requirements stated by the International Maritime Organisation.
