mission:
Lessius was founded in 2010 as a merger of the former Lessius Hogeschool (founded 2000), Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen (founded 1995) and Campus De Nayer from the Hogeschool voor Wetenschap en Kunst (founded 1995). Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen and Campus De Nayer formed Lessius Mechelen, Lessius Hogeschool changed its name into Lessius Antwerp. Together, Lessius Antwerp and Lessius Mechelen form Lessius. Lessius is more!

Lessius creates modern learning environments for her students in which they can develop their talents under supervision.

Lessius provides a teaching environment based on orientation students toward cooperation, responsibility, creativity and problem-solving which are all skills absolutely required in the professional world of today.

Students are allowed the possibility of developing an individualized learning path that is feasible and useful both where structure and contents are concerned. The control over this learning system is in the hands of the students. Though, students may rely at all time on intensive accompaniment by their lecturers and student monitors.

Lessius wants to be a place where students and teachers can meet. It is a pre-eminently intercultural institution, where diversity is an important aspect of daily life. In this way, understanding each other and living together are essential values for Lessius. To promote the diversity and make human encounters possible, mobility is for Lessius an essential aspect of internationalisation. Students and teachers have the chance to broaden their view on diversity and increase their knowledge about other cultures. Lessius has currently contacts all over Europe, Bangladesh, Thailand, RSA, Bolivia, Australia, Suriname, Ecuador, … .
